Manga Reaction: D.Gray-man, Noblesse, Kuroshitsuji

Ok, here is something I have never done before, but seeing as a few manga people are following me now, I might as well try it. It might get me back into reading other series I have stopped (Pandora Hearts is next, but Ao no Exorcist is still looking good as well...)

It was a fruitful week indeed, as 3 of the monthly series I'm following updated:

THIS IS NOT OK

NOT OK AT ALL!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

I know it is kind of old news, because last chapter had already been pretty conclusive about it, but seeing him actually disintigrating, fully with an Allen flashback ;__________________;.

I really love to hate this new villain and yay Jasdebi! We haven't seen them pretty much since the Ark arc, so I'm pretty happy that they are around, even though they probably wont stand a chance against Acopalypse

Remember when we said Hoshino couldn't be more obvious? I GUESS WE WERE WRONG!

Kanda becoming a general is really intriguing, though and I'm excited to see where it will lead. I feel like D.Gray-man is finally starting to pick up again, making me sit at the edge of my seat. (though I had the same complaint as always... WHERE IS ALLEN!!??)


Noblesse is cool right now, with its setting up of the confrontation. A lot of this chapter was exposition, but it was fine, we needed a breather as did the characters. It also provided an opportunity for these handsome faces:



I really missed them! I'm really glad they are getting back into the story, at least a little bit.

Another thing I liked is that Lukedonia is back to getting involved, though I'm kind of sad they didn't send Karias to be honest XD


And lastly I'll come to the big thing of this week: Rai. It had to have happened at some point, because you simply can't have an unbeatable character, but it still tore at my heartstrings. Though I just don't believe Frankenstein will actually wake him up. I think he'll wake up on his own later in the story, when nearly all hope is lost, because a) I think Frankenstein would want to make him rest and b) dramatically it packs a bigger punch

Oh Kuroshitsuji, you remain my favourite well written, well drawn crack.



Also, I do appreciate you trying to explain cricket to me, but I realised I just do not care enough and seeing as you are being as ridiculous and mean as always about winning this, I don't feel like I have to anyway XD

Cautious fanfic rec of the day: So let it be said, so let it be done, Yu-Gi-Oh, Puzzleshipping, It's not every day a person gets a second chance at life. Sometimes the doors we walk through lead us to places we'd never thought we'd go... or right back to where we started.

Cautious, because I haven't actually read it all, but it's a yu-gi-oh fanfic that I haven't read before and the writing is good enough to not scare me off 4 chapters in, so I'm counting it as a win

PFFFFT. If he doesn't, Rai will just wake up through sheer force of will because he'll just SOMEHOW know his kids/the children are in danger. Again.

Still wondering if this is the fifth season wrapping up, and if that means Rai's gonna be in a coma/hibernating for pretty much the entirety of the sixth.

weird about the pictures, they seem to all work for me....

I think they said it's going to be that ninja guy (too lazy to look it up...the guy with the face mask, who fought with regis in the lukedonia arc and with frankenstein in the flashback) because he's already in the outside world.

though man, Rai is going to be pissed off when he wakes up to see that Frankenstein didn't stick to his promise. That's another reason I really want more flashback, I just find their dynamic the most interesting of them all, because Frankenstein just is so very much the opposite of servile, in basically every scene and relationship we have seen him. There must have been something pretty major happening for that to change for Rai.

I know I'm probably alone on that front, but I always like stuff to focus on them more instead of M-21, because so many mysteries! Gimme! *grabby hands*

I'm gonna be so pissed, if Rai is in coma the whole sixth season. I LOVE HIM! I'm already grumpy that he has to be sidelined so much, because of the narrative, if I can't even have the satisfaction of him in background shots or the bad guys continously ignoring him for everyone else, I'll be sad...

That...is Karias? He's just not bankai'd summoned his soul weapon, and Ragar, their dad, is the one that fought Frankenstein in the flashback.

8D So much. That was amazing to see. Though, saying that, Frankenstein's kinda like that when he's interacting with people who aren't kids under his care, pfft. XD

ok I did look it up because it bothered me and ha! I was right, the Kertia clan leader (the ninja guy) is called Rajak and that is the one they are sending too, Karias is that other guy, though I did confuse him with Rajak in so far that he was the one who fought regis and brought him to the Lord, because he hit him once. THOSE DAMN CLAN LEADERS THERE ARE SO MANY OF THEM

I need so much more Rai/Frankenstein backstory, you better believe it...

Yeeep, that's what I'd thought too, haha. Now I'm wondering who it was that gave Regis extra training at the end. Probably Karias.

A few people have recced Noblesse to me before. Maybe I should give it a try.

I kind of lost interest in DGM a few years ago but I've been meaning to get back into it.

And hahahaha, YES. I cracked up at the latest Kuroshitsuji chap. I was like, "Thanks for teaching me the rules of cricket! I'm not sure I understand-- OH GOD CIEL REALLY." XD

you totally should give noblesse a read! I would also recommend making it a bit into the series before you decide you like it or not, because the beginning can be a bit...misleading. The art style in the earlier stuff is a bit unpolished too, but it was their first project and they really improved over the course of the series

Man, I know what you mean. There are a few mangas I kind of left by the roadside that I've been meaning to take up again (oh Naruto you just kind of lost me when there were chapters after chapters of one-bit characters preparing for war)

And DGM got bumpy there for a bit, but I feel like she is back on track, so maybe do it.

Omg Kuroshitsuji. This is one of those mangas I can never get enough of. I mean the story telling is excellent, I really like the way she is never really softening up ciel, it can be creepy and thrilling and beautiful and poignant...and also cracky as all hell.

I'm really enjoying this story arc immensly, even though I feel Toboso is basically ticking off AU fanfic scenarios: Crime/Sherlock Holmes, check! circus!au, check! Zombies, check! high school au, fucking CHECK!

and it provides so many funny moments, where you just have to smirk and go "Ciel you little conniving shit"
