So I got this gem from
ratherastory with the rules:
Comment to this post with "THE VERY NERVE!" (that's all you need do to start, seriously!) and then:
I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
You update your journal with the answers to the questions.
You can include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions (but only if you want to).
So I'm going to answer mine now^^
1- Tell me about how you got into fandom.
This is a bit hard to answer, because what fandom and how do you define into^^? Anyway to try this, I actually started out with manga fandom and not TV-Series. I was basically browsing a book-store and picked up my first manga (Ah! My goddess if you want to be specific) and really liked this. So I started buying and more importantly reading everything I could get my hands on. I think I really worried my parents sometimes because I tended to stay in the stores till they closed at 8 and I was a bit young to come home this late everyday. But it was quite self-contained all in all, I just read it.
When I was in 9th grade we had a class project which included a student exchange with another class and my guest sister was into manga - and introduced me to scanlation (basically fan-translated manga) on the internet. More time was spent with even more manga and that was also the time I first started going to conventions. Two years later I discovered fanfic and 1 year after that livejournal and the rest, as they say is history
2- Is your best friend now the same as the best friend you had when you were a kid? What has changed and what hasn't?
No. But I interpret school as elementary school age, so mainly life happened. I think compared to most people I know we did stay close friends and in contact really long, but we went to different secondary schools and later moved away from each other. Went to different universites, but because her mom is my dentist we were actually always up to date with each others lives (and we are actually back in the same city, we both are just not planning geniuses and always forget to meet up)
What changed are probably just our social circles. What hasn't changed is that we still have an instant connection. We met by accident once(and later at a class get-together) and it was just instantly like old times with the way we could talk about anything and laugh together. Which is really awesome, because I think that is one friendship that, even if not the same and as close, will never really stop working.
3- What's a little-known fact about yourself that always surprises people when they find out?
Urgh, ehm maybe that I tend to be actually really insecure about a lot of things? It's weird. because the part where I'm confident isn't played or false, but I have really weird hang-ups about the way I look and about things I really want. Also that I'm extremely talkative but hate talking about my problems, because I always think it's my responsibility to sort shit out and get weirdly pressured when I tell people stuff (so you have to be really good friends with me to have me actually talk about my own messed up problems^^)
4- What's your first fandom? If it's SPN, what show would have been your first fandom if you'd known fandom existed at the time?
Ok, giving you two there Japanese and Western^^.
Japanese that was Rurouni Kenshin (its a samurai story set in the late 19th century, about an ex-assasin of the revolution trying to atone 10 years later after swearing to never kill again by only using a reverse blade sword, meeting a young Kendo master in Tokio and his struggle with old enemies and his past...and he looks like this) one of the first mangas I read, first anime box-set I bought and first ever fanfiction story I read.
My first western fandom was Harry Potter. Loved the books, read hours upon hours of fanfiction, discussion pages essays etc.
(Supernatural was the first I ever wrote a complete story for though)
5- What sort of art do you have on your walls?
Not a great interior designer I'm afraid, so its poster of two anime series ^^
Well that was fun^^, so anyone reading this feel free to comment ~~
